I’m a major foodie and what better way to celebrate that than by filling my family’s belly and supporting local Black-owned small businesses? Giving back to the community and support small businesses is something I’ve been trying to do more of during the pandemic. So here are 5 of my favorite spots all over the city. Are you ready?
- Lucille’s
Let me just say the biscuits at Red Lobster don’t have anything on the chili biscuits from Lucille’s. They are the bomb.com! All the food is amazing actually. And it just feels like home as soon as you step foot in the door. And if you’re looking for a brunch spot this is it. - the breakfast klub
This place embodies the essence of Houston and southern cuisine. From the chicken and waffles to the katfish and grits you can’t go wrong. If you decide to frequent this establishment be sure to make plans to get there early. Sometimes the line can get a little lengthy. - Frenchy’s Chicken
Fried chicken, more biscuits and dirty rice. What more could you ask for? - Cool Runnings Jamaican Bar & Grill
Need a little getaway without actually getting away? You’re in luck. Cool Runnings serves up delicious traditional Jamaican cuisines like ackee and saltfish, beef patties, rice and peas, oxtails and curried goat. You’ll feel an island breeze blowing through your hair as every bite soothes your soul. - Crumbville, TX
There was no way I could leave out dessert. Crumbville’s goodies are all vegan and/or gluten-free so you can have no guilt when devouring them! The Vegan Oreos are SOOOOOO good. Get you some!
